The National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, Texas, a nationally significant landmark dedicated to honoring the courage, sacrifice, and service of America’s Medal of Honor recipients, features a distinctive elevated design, officially opening on March 25—National Medal of Honor Day—that required careful planning when it came to roofing and waterproofing. With open areas below the structure and several transition points throughout the building, as well as multiple elevations and complex architectural geometry, protecting the interior spaces and priceless exhibits from water intrusion was a key part of the project.
KPost Company partnered with the SOPREMA and Linbeck project team to install roofing and waterproofing systems designed to manage water across multiple elevations while supporting the museum’s bold architectural vision. The goal was to ensure consistent protection while working within the unique layout of the museum, an approach that reflects KPost’s experience with complex, high-profile structures. This project joins KPost’s work on neighboring Arlington landmarks, including Globe Life Field and AT&T Stadium, reinforcing the company’s ability to perform at scale on nationally recognized projects.
Because of the building’s design, close attention was paid to penetrations, perimeter details, and transition areas—critical elements on an elevated structure of this scale. These conditions often present challenges over time, so coordinating installation with other trades was important to maintaining continuity throughout the system while working around access limitations, sequencing demands, and open spaces below the structure.
The roofing and waterproofing materials were selected based on performance, durability, and suitability for commercial applications in Texas conditions, where long-term exposure and performance are essential. The system was designed to support both the functional needs of the building and the architectural intent of the project without compromising the museum’s visual impact. Soprema served as the material partner, supporting a system designed for longevity and reliability.
During installation, the team focused on precision and consistency, particularly at seams, edges, and penetrations—areas critical to long-term performance and protection. Attention to these details helps reduce the risk of future issues and supports long-term reliability, especially important for a facility entrusted with preserving history and honoring legacy.
The completed roofing and waterproofing systems now help protect the museum’s structure, exhibits, and interior spaces, ensuring the building can serve as a place of reflection, education, and honor for generations to come. Since opening, the National Medal of Honor Museum has received widespread praise for its emotional impact, thoughtful exhibits, and striking design, and was named Best New Museum in America by USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. Guests consistently highlight the thoughtful exhibits, the sense of honor woven throughout the space, and the care taken to create an environment worthy of the legacy it represents—cementing the museum as a must-visit destination and a source of pride for the community.
KPost Company is proud to have served as the trusted roofing and waterproofing partner for this extraordinary project, contributing to the protection of a landmark that stands for courage, sacrifice, and service at the highest level.
